Do you remember when you first heard about 'The Four Agreements' book? What made you finally read it for the first time?

I first heard about it on the 'Oprah' show. I don't remember when but I'm guessing at the end of the 1990's since the book's copyright is 1997. I wonder if the concept of the 4 agreements came out before the book was written? I eventually put it on a list of books to read.

My last therapist (she's a art therapist) had the book with her at one of our sessions. She didn't want to give me her copy but she didn't always get them back! So I bought my own copy. I read parts of it so far.

What's your story?

Regards,

T.

It was a gift from my mother. It was a difficult period in her life and she saw the book on Oprah, and decided to read it. It changed her life, and she bought me a copy during a transitional period in my life. Don Ruiz's books have helped my journey in untold ways.

As far as I have found the ideas originally reached book form in a very less concise version back in the late 60's and early 70's.

Hi Angelus

Thanks for replying.

What a wonderful gift to receive from your Mother. Another Oprah watcher. Nice to hear that the book helped both you and your Mom. Would you like to share how 'The Four Agreements' helped you and what changes you saw in your Mom?

Bye for now.

T.

I saw it in a bookstore and picked it up because I liked the designs on the cover! It's one of the best books I've ever read with a lot of good practical advice

Hi Blackdragon5

Thanks for your reply.

I also like the design and have the front cover displayed on a bookshelf.

What are some of the practical advice you have used?

Bye for now,

T

I'm a book o'holic... I was into just a series of books and one led me to another... I ended up getting The Mastery of Love and some of the others too, including the Power of Belief from a student of Don Miguel Ruiz which I think is good too, though not as popular. Thae author lives here in Colorado and I got to meet him and his significant other.

Namasté

Hi Manea

Thanks for your response.

How was it, meeting the author? What was his partner like?

Namaste,

T

It's been a while since I posted on here. Here goes:

My friend Fiona recommended the book to me. She kept going on about it and telling me how it changed her life so completely. Curious, I got The Four Agreements. Then Beyond Fear, Voice of Knowledge and Master of Love.

And it changed my life completely too.

a perscription with unlimited refills

The Four Agreements was a perscription from a psychologist. I was going through a period of anxiety and after (2) sessions he told me to read it for homework. I havn't had anxiety since, and I no longer pay hundreds of dollars for a psycholgist.

(I also love the artwork on the cover. I took a wooden stool and 'mosaiced' the design on the seat. It is now my bedside table)
